List of the products I Use:

  • Maui Moisture Curly Hair Shampoo
  • Maui Moisture Curly Hair Conditioner
  • Mielle Sea Moss Gel Hair Masque
  • Mielle Rosemary Mint Strengthening Hair Masque.
  • Rizos Curls Defining Cream
  • The Doux Mousse Def
  • The Doux Big Poppa Defining Gel
  • Define EdgeList Brush

In the shower, you should shampoo twice! This was a game changer when my hair stylist recommended me this for less friziness and dryness. The first shampoo gets rid of all the old products and buildup that's in your hair. The second wash is to actually wash and scrub your hair, getting the lather and soapy effect you want. I also recommend using a scalp scrubber brush while washing your hair to really massage your scalp and get rid of any gunk. Since you are washing twice, you should only use a quarter size of shampoo to not use too much product either.

I deep condition every other week; when I don't deep condition, I use conditioner as usual. And even then, you should leave the conditioner in for about 3-5 minutes. I switch between the Mielle Sea Moss Gel Hair Masque and the Mielle Rosemary Mint Strengthening Hair Masque. Mielle Sea Moss Gel Hair Masque has done wonders. It made my hair slick and defined, and decreased the excessive shedding I had before. I love using this product because it is easy to brush out, smells good, and makes wash day easier. Leave it in for about 15-20 minutes. I started using the Strengthening Hair Masque after I added highlights to my hair to keep it protected from damage.

I recently started using the Define EdgeList Brush and man does it make a difference! I was struggling to keep my hair defined and frizz-free after adding my highlights, and I really thought I ruined my hair since my normal routine wasn't working. That's when I added the strengthening hair masque, heat protectant before diffusing, and now this brush and it has helped tremendously! The hair masque keeps your hair strong and healthy with the nutrients it needs, heat protectant lowers frizziness and adds a barrier from extra damage to your hair while drying, and the Define EdgeList Brush gives that perfect curl definition effect that lasts for days! The way you brush is a big part of the hair routine, and you have to brush a certain way depending on whether you want definition or volume, and decrease the frizz. The Define EdgeList Brush helps with that process since it has the ridges to create the perfect curl and keep it moisturized when freshly applied with the products. Although pricey, I definitely recommend adding this to your curly hair routine since it will be well-used and totally worth it.

  1. Apply Rizos Curl Defining Cream - apply to all hair when it is thoroughly wet. My hairstylist recommended me to do this while still in the shower when my hair is most wet and corse, since mine dries pretty quickly.
  2. Lightly brush throughout to incorporate the product while facing your hair down until everything is detangled.
  3. Then I part my hair lightly into 3 sections. 2 in the front after splitting in half and then the rest in the back.
  4. With the Define EdgeList Brush, you break each section into smaller sections to get better definition.
  5. Add 1-2 pumps of mousse to a section and brush it out. (I start with the back.) Shake the hair and scrunch.
  6. Grab some gel, apply to the section using prayer hands, and then scrunch again. You brush again lightly, turning the brush backward to create the curl effect and incorporate the gel well.
  7. Repeat for all sections.
